Can I sit the test twice?
Yes, you can sit the test both in the March sitting and the September sitting. There is no limit on the number of times you can take Gamsat.
I am applying for university in Australia, which sitting should I take?
Normally candidates in Australia and Ireland sit the test in March and candidates in the UK sit the test in September to tie in to the university application cycles in those countries.
However, Gamsat results are valid for two years so you could sit an earlier sitting of the test and your result will still be valid.
Please refer to the official ACER guidance for more information on which years Gamsat results are valid for the year in which you are applying.
Can I choose which result I use?
Yes, if you sit the test more than once then providing the results are still valid for the year in which you are applying you can choose to use the highest result you obtained.
How do I register?
You must register for Gamsat online via the official ACER Gamsat website. Payment for the test registration fee is by debit/credit card online only.
What if I change my mind?
If you change your mind about sitting the test you can ONLY get a refund within 14 days of registering for the test.
Can I switch from the March sitting to the September sitting?
If you've already registered for the March sitting but wish to change to the September sitting then you are allowed to change to the September sitting but you must make your request to ACER before the late registration deadline for the MARCH test.
Is there any advantage to registering EARLY?
If you've definitely decided you want to take the test then my advice is to register as soon as you can. The reason for this is that the test is only held in a limited number of testing centres located in a few cities throughout the country (this applies equally to Australia, the UK and Ireland).
Places in testing centres are allocated on a first come first served basis so if you leave it until the last minute before registering then it is perfectly possible that your preferred location is already full.
This could mean you have to undertake a long trip the day of the test to get to another location or city. Something which is obviously undesirable since the test lasts a whole day and you clearly don't want to be exhausted before you even start.
